At industry level, my experience ranges from research on working conditions to developing a framework to capture behaviour change outcomes; from training women entrepreneurs on how to enhance gender equality in their organisations to engaging colleagues in corporate-level sustainability initiatives.
As well as being passionate about generating benefits from tourism for local destination communities and businesses, I also have hands-on experience of working with two organisations making sustainability part of how they do business:
- TUI, where I worked on external and internal sustainability communications, reporting and research; and
- Virgin Atlantic, where I worked on the ‘Change is in the Air’ sustainability programme – focusing on communications, employee engagement and reporting including external sustainability reports (see an example here); content production for internal and external publications and website; campaigns to engage colleagues from pilots to ground staff in the company’s sustainability initiatives; designing, delivering and analysing the results of a staff-wide sustainability survey.
More recently, I’ve worked with the Travel Foundation on projects including to support their development of partnerships with external organisations and institutions; and researched and developed a framework to encourage and capture behaviour change outcomes generated by their programmes and projects.
I am also an Associate of Equality in Tourism, an organisation dedicated to ensuring women have an equal voice in and share of the benefits from tourism globally. I’m responsible for developing and managing website content and social media communications, as well as providing input into organisational planning and strategy.
